Veterans’ Disability

You served your country and now you need help due to disability. Maybe your disability resulted from your military service or maybe your service aggravated a condition you already had (even if you didn ’t know you had it). Maybe your disability is not connected to your service at all, but you served during war time and now you
don’t have the income or assets to support yourself. In any of these cases, you might be entitled to disability benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Generally, to be entitled to monthly payments, your injuries must be caused by some event that occurred during your service. The amount of the payment depends on the severity of your disability. And, good news, you do not have to be totally disabled to collect.

But don’t despair even if your disability is not related to your service. You may still be entitled to payments if you served during a time of war. You ’ll have to meet some income and asset requirements to receive this benefit but if you are struggling to survive, it is worth looking into.

While the intent of the law is to provide veterans with extensive disability and medical benefits, there can be significant issues with how the law is interpreted. That ’s why we stand ready to help America’s veterans with their service connected disability claims.

We start by collecting the information needed to prove you are disabled and that your disability is service related. This includes information about your service, date and type of discharge, service related events and the type of disability you have. And if you might think that too much time has passed since your service ended to apply, you are mistaken. The VA places few constraints on when a claim may be filed because it acknowledges that it can take years for a condition to become disabling. We specialize in retroactive claims reaching back many years, even decades. If your claim is successful, the VA has to provide benefits that you should have been getting since your service ended. Of course, not every case reaches back this far but you can rest assured that we will carefully evaluate your case to help you get the maximum benefit.

As you have probably heard or even experienced, the challenges of navigating the VA system on your own are often overwhelming. Don ’t worry, we’ll be by your side helping you get all the benefits you deserve.

“Stephanie is a fellow attorney, trusted adviser and colleague in whom I have complete confidence. When I refer a case to her, I know she will handle
it with care, competence and compassion. Although her law practice encompasses serious subject matter (workers ’ compensation and Social
Security disability), she has the unique ability to make it accessible to her clients in understandable terms and to provide them with the calm, assuring, steady guidance they need at a stressful time in their lives. ”
